—–ENGLISH—–

The Club ://about Blank at Markgrafendamm

Where once the MFE Club (Ministry for Relaxation) was located, the //:about blank has found its place. The location of ://about blank berlin alone fulfils all expectations of a club for electronic music in the former East Berlin. Situated on a run-down industrial estate at Markgrafendamm 24c in Friedrichshain near Ostkreuz, the club is located in one of the last industrial offshoot of downtown Berlin. The club is divided in the interior area into the elongated lobby floor and the more compact MDF floor. The DJ-console is located in the middle of the first area, so it doesn’t feel like a dance floor, but more like a house party in the hallway. The MDF floor is more square, offers sitting areas and is reserved for the hardened pace. On the first floor you will find the wardrobe. There are two main dance floors inside, and in summer DJs play in the garden. Outside in the garden, a small grove and high board walls protect the about blank towards the Markgrafendamm. Like many other clubs, the ://about blank benefits from the aesthetics of the industrial wasteland, and has clearly oriented itself towards it with the improvised design typical of Berlin.

The program in ://about Blank: House and Techno next to Dupstep

The collective who runs the club, combine an ambitious music program around techno, minimal, IDM, electro, techhouse and dubstep with a decidedly leftist, political claim. Benefit parties for people who are denied the right to stay by the state are on the agenda, as well as the presentation of advanced female bass music artists from Great Britain. The aim is to raise the awareness of the party crowd for other things than just parties. The Crew ums Blänk is certainly one of the most politically ambitious in the Berlin club scene. The location for the „Autonomousdisko“ was rented in 2009, then everything was built up on a do-it-yourself basis. Cool is: Night managers, cleaners and bartenders all get the same salary.

Projects and regular events in ://about Blank

The ://about blank berlin can claim to have a sure hand in selecting international artists. The ://about blank is open from Thursday to Sunday. Regular events are Homopatik, a homosexual party and Impulse Dubstep. By the way, the location is only for temporary use until the final completion of the Ostkreuz station. The audience tends to be 25 years old. Admission prices vary between eight and twelve euros, drinks are based on Berlin’s standard prices.
