Detroit, USA, & Jakarta, Indonesia have a lot in common these days with the unlikely pairing of techno originator Thomas Barnett & his multi-talented protege, Ecilo (Reza Putra Andana). Their unique brand of uplifting, energy-packed, electronic funk has been filling dance floors across the globe for the past 7 months (for Barnett it’s been a wee bit longer) starting with their „FRENCH LOOP EP“ (VSD-002) & „BOY EP“ (VSD-004) on Visillusion’s digital imprint.
This outing proves to be no different with 4 tracks of mind-melding, techno & acid, sonic mana… Barnett starts it off red-hot with „INDIGENOUS“, a timeless adventure that sprinkles in just a few words from his long time friend & FOUR313 partner, Blake Baxter. While „PUNK“ is about as raw & dirty as you may ever hear him get, expect some fat bass & another example of TB’s signature vocal chants.
Ecilo teams up with long time pal & technical guru, Jones, and together they deliver the goods with the acid crusher „VISILLUSION ACID“, playing with vocals provided by Barnett and 303 melodies that wiggle & jerk between different dimensions of cosmic funk. Ecilo & Jones also offer up some of their hometown’s flavor with the bouncy & fluid „JAKARTA TECHNO“, a fantastic closer track to this more than tasty EP.
