Similar to a “pop-up hackerspace”, NoisyLeaks! offers the opportunity for individuals and groups to meet, network, co-create a future of sharing, establishing free access to information, reinforcing accountability and discussing the resistance to surveillance amongst other topics related to the exhibition’s overall theme.
NoisyLeaks! celebrates the courage of people involved in exposing crimes and supports the revolutionary practice of publishing large “leaks” in collective efforts to expose the powerful in uncensorable ways. It salutes and exhibits the courage of the sources. It attempts to sublimate the massive releases of WikiLeaks and anchors them in historical and civilisational times of our era, and their importance to counter disinformation.
One of the NoisyLeaks! organisers Juan Passarelli says: “WikiLeaks exposed how our governments were involved in widespread torture and kidnapping programmes, how our top leaders were involved in ordering the assassination of individuals around the world, and how they operate with complete impunity. Julian Assange’s original sin was truth, it is the only reason why he is imprisoned today and it is why, according to the UN, Julian is being tortured by the US and the UK governments. Truth is why Assange is facing 175 years in an American dungeon. At NoisyLeaks!, we celebrate the Truth.”
„WikiLeaks’ work is the essence of journalistic functions in modern society, it exposes authoritarianism and control. Truthful and honest journalistic platforms like this simply don’t exist in modern society. Thank you Julian Assange for your work!”
Ai Weiwei
“Wikileaks was born from a visionary man, Julian Assange, who imagined a different world from the one presented to us. And it is thanks to him that today we all have a weapon to defend ourselves against the contradictions of our contemporary world: our critical sense.”
Davide Dormino
“WikiLeaks is one of the most important organizations in the last century. Humanity deserves transparency and this is why I support them on their journey to make the world a better place.”
Daniel Lismore
„With NoisyLeaks! we hope for a moment when artists, activists, hackers and everyone can share inspiring visions and practices towards describing and (re)building better desirable worlds. Many lost trust in representative politics and dominant media. By offering independent, reliable and collective journalistic practices to handle facts and relate to the world around us, WikiLeaks has come as an early announcer -and maybe an antidote- to such deep crisis.“
declares another organizer
NoisyLeaks! opens its doors to the public on 07. Oct 2022 at 19.00 and it will run until 30. Oct. 2022 at Projektraum 145 Gallery, Invalidenstr 145, 10115, Berlin.
