Space Cadets (Adam Pits Lisene)
Adam Pits & Lisene bring their floor-thumping Space Cadets project to Berlin for the first time, with an extended set leading 4 rooms of progressive, trance, breaks, future bass and queer utopian techno from Laylla Dane, Inner Zone, new residents Bambi & Solaris and founders DJ TEETH TPR.
〇 SPACE CADETS
Producer/DJs Adam Pits and Lisene have been friends going back 15 years. They’ve each dropped jaw-dropping EPs left and right with deep ties to 90s progressive house, trance and acid on labels including Kalahari Oyster Cult, X-Kalay, Hâws, and Mineral Mines. As Space Cadets they’ve released some floor-thumping tech trance with a healthy pinch of UK Bass on labels Seven Hills and Planet Euphorique, and they’re touching down with us for the first time in Berlin for a special extended set.
〇 LAYLLA DANE
Sofia-based Laylla Dane is a fearless selector mixing vinyl discoveries of experimental leftfield techno, minimal, and house. Her DJ sets explore an expansive atmosphere that feel like a parallel universe on the dancefloor. She is part of the Brainsurgery family and she released an EP ‘Tropical Dar’ on Budapest’s All In Records which spans the experimental versatility that is characteristic of her DJ sets. She has a knack for melding oddities of organic sounds with the mechanical hypnosis of techno in new and mysterious ways.
〇 INNER ZONE
London and Bristol-based Inner Zone are a dynamic DJ and production trio comprised of Nic Baird, Rupes and Alex Anderson. Nic and Rupes are also the boys behind the excellent UK party series’ Transmissions and Together Elsewhere, and together they perform intergalactic rave sets across the UK and Europe as well as releasing some seriously spicy progressive rollers on Nic’s space•lab imprint, Holding Hands, Feelings and their own forthcoming Inner Zone label. Their club cuts and DJ sets move between trance, breaks, and progressive house euphoria in a propulsive cosmic groove.
Radiant and lush, Bambi selects enchanting tracks that roll rhythmically through the body, igniting the senses. A resident of the legendary club Macadam in Nantes and with her own show on Rinse France, Bambi’s selections of progressive house, techno, breaks, and trance areuncompromising, and a clarion call for radical softness in the club. She also promotes safe spaces and sex-positivity within the French non-profit Consentis, and returns to HYPERSOFT this time as one of two new residents for 2023.
Fast-paced and deconstructed, Solaris melts together a frenetic cacophony of rhythmic bass which surges urgently through any soundsystem worth its salt. Coming from a punk background, she’s a mainstay in the Leipzig scene, from where she used her long-running residence on Rinse FM and years as booker of local institution IFZ to platform forward-thinking music and under-the-radar artists from the Leipzig scene. Drawing on her own influences of fast techno, UK Bass, footwork, deconstructed club and broken rhythms, she’s the boss of PH17, an imprint known for experimental club music that she co-runs with resident Stanley Schmidt, who she now joins as our second new resident for 2023.
〇 DJ TEETH TPR
Santi & Samuel – aka DJ TEETH TPR – are the co-founders of HYPERSOFT, the Berlin collective and party series where 90s progressive & trance sounds meet breakbeats, future bass and queer utopian techno. They have been working and DJing together since 2014, and also play together under the HYPERSOFT name, applying the same ethos from their curation of the parties to their sets: connecting the dots between house, techno, trance and breaks – past, present and future.
Sean is one of our newest discoveries in Berlin, a gifted and versatile young DJ from Amsterdam whose musical knowledge and mixing is beyond impressive. She captured our attention with an impressive mix switching between half tempo dub and ambient selections and 170bpm liquid jungle rhythms, forthcoming on our own mix series, a vibe she’ll bring to the Absinth room this month providing a space to switch tempos and trip to a different energy.
