We are launching a new event series, called ORAM NIGHTS. Daphne Blake Oram, born 1925 in Devizes, UK, was a composer and pioneer of electronic music. Oram co-founded the BBC Radiophonic Workshops in 1958, a department that produced Incidental Sounds and New Music for radio and television. The achievements of this group are considered seminal in the development of contemporary electronic music. In addition, Oram concocted a notation system and machine for graphical sound generation called Oramics. With this, she was one of the first to systematically translate visual input into electronic sounds.
