With Riders on the Roof, Julia Govor returns with her first release since 2024, unveiling a record shaped by motion rather than message. Released on her own JUJUKA Music imprint, the EP abandons fixed concepts in favor of sensation – rhythm as movement, sound as velocity.
Inspired by cycling across the open rooftops of Brooklyn and New York City, Riders on the Roof unfolds as music meant to be traveled through. Propulsive yet weightless, the tracks trace balance, momentum, and the quiet exhilaration of moving above the city, where repetition becomes meditation and forward motion feels suspended in air.
Known for her forward-thinking production and a signature sound that invites complexity without force, Govor’s work has appeared on Semantica, 30Drop, Standard Deviation, Pushmaster Discs, Trip, Cocoon, Anagram labels, crossed paths with Jeroen Search and avant-garde composer Kamran Sadeghi, and been reimagined by Ricardo Villalobos. As founder of JUJUKA Music and a recent addition to the music programming team at Public Records NY, she continues to explore rhythm, space, and movement with a distinctly intuitive hand.
