Mike Krol ist eine Band bzw. ein Konzept aus Los Angeles mit weiteren Mitgliedern in Minneapolis, Madison & Seattle, wie es in der Kurzinfo auf seiner Bandcamp-Site so schön heißt. Seine (ihre?) dritte Platte ist gleichzeitig das Debüt auf Merge Records und heißt Turkey – und das Genre „Power Pop“ nach eigenen Angaben kann man ernstnehmen oder auch nicht. Irgendeine Art von „Alternative“ trifft’s aber vermutlich besser: „He kept playing drums and guitars, and he kept writing songs about the stuff he hated and the stuff he loved. (..) Plug the vocal mic into a guitar amp. Plug the guitar into an overheating box of vacuum tubes. Put the computer in the closet. Roll the tape.“
