After a short break Tough Luck Records return with this Techno focused release that blends deep textures with industrial grooves that will appeal to fans of Truncate, Mike Dehnert and Robert Hood for example.

In the words of DJ Mag UK “Tough Luck Records has become one of the UK’s most reliable young labels” and describes it as having a “…reputation for tenacious, quality productions”.

Put together by friends from London and Newcastle, their previous releases have featured music from Ed Davenport, Nikola Gala plus The Jaydes (Bloody Mary & Attan).

Jonatön is a new name to the fold but by no means a newcomer to the scene. He puts forward a confident debut EP for the label, showcasing a brand of grooving Techno that we are sure to see more of.

The collaboration duo known as Region appear as the first remixer following an outing on Jaunt Records featuring Voiski and Basic Soul Unit. Also joining the fray is the secretive AWOL, who has gained supporters such as Scuba and Emmanuel.

Track one titled „Vier“ is a rare hybrid fusing elements of House with a raw Techno groove. Gliding pads and an ambient vocal give the track an uplifting analogue warmth, whilst the tough percussion drives the track forward to keep it dancefloor focused.

Second is „Zerroah“ that is centred around Detroit influenced chords. Stripped back with a rolling bass line. Dub influenced pads and ambient effects rattle around the mix, which is brought to life with an energetic clap rhythm.

The third track is the uptempo Region remix of Vier that focuses on mechanical percussion rhythms and off beat synth work. Simple but effective, their chic rework full of forward momentum is heads down Techno the way it should be.

Finishing the release is the experimental AWOL remix of Zerroah. With a swinging rhythm the hammering kick drum mixes with ambient textures and a muffled vocal to create a soundscape with enough bite that it will work in the club to great effect. Artistic and perfectly programmed, this master crafted remix is the perfect end to this stunning release.
