Our fifth release is a special one, as we drop our first full EP from one of our favourite artists: DJ Oakland. With this 5 tracker you are taken across the spectrum of his musical taste, from all out disco house to deeper, introspective lo-fi beats.
The EP is tinged with his signature balance of melodies and dancefloor rhythms, and invokes memories and nostalgia at every turn. Alumni Records exists to showcase the talent that comes out of subSine | Academy of Electronic Music in Glasgow, Scotland. Mission accomplished.

“This record is inspired by the music of the Shall Not Fade label, Kerri Chandler, DJ Boring and Mac Miller. After listening to Mac’s latest posthumous album I was inspired to purchase a Fender Stratocaster to record guitar licks into my productions, and that’s when the EP really started to take shape and sound like a solid piece of music.”

Artist Bio:
DJ Oakland’s productions come straight out of the heart of the concrete jungle. His influences range from the lo-fi heavyweights DJ Boring and DJ Seinfeld all the way back to early 90’s legends Lil’ Louis and Kerri Chandler’s timeless productions. His style combines live guitar, synths and 303 with dancefloor rhythms to create warm, fuzzy and thoughtful productions that stay with the listener for years to come.
DJ Oakland runs the Glasgow club night “WaVe”, with recent guests including Lauer and DJ Ciderman.
