Encompassing multiple aspects of the new digital age, Sky Deep issues an undeniably captivating output. The Berlin-based artists talents are multitude & this time her music production techniques come forefront as she reveals 5 track EP ‘Up In Here’.
Sky’s spirited tracks serve to manipulate and modernise the concept of 80’s electro-funk. Following the release of the ‘Up In Here’ single at the end of 2020, she now reveals it as a wider work alongside ‘Believe It’. Both infused with irresistible self-made hip-hop vocal hooks, they are complimented by remixes from Steve Knots, Yvois & Kreap on the release.
Previously collaborating with Sky on Prague based club event at Chapeau Rouge, US born production expert Steve Knots also boasts an admirable catalogue as an Ableton teacher, Session Lesson® tutorials inventor, DJ and Producer. Contributing the first remix, he offers a signature hypotonic 4/4 dance-floor groove to ‘Up In Here’.
Also joining the EP is mysterious Australian multi-instrumentalist Kreap, who retains the funk with his ‘Emergency Orchestra’ remix of ‘Up In Here’. Capturing the diverse and dynamic musical spectrum of this rousing release, both artists are a fitting addition to Sky Deeps creative landscape.
New Zealand born and member of Beat Retreat Collective, Yvois rounds off the EP with a completely stripped back melodic electro rework of ‘Believe It Tho’. Now based in Berlin, she founded the Éclat Crew, a collective of female, trans & non-binary electronic music producers. Over the years Yvois has established a sonic output of eclectic found sounds and atmospheric tones, contributing her distinctive sound design to the release.
Much more than a straight up DJ / Producer, Sky Deep’s career has seen her span roles as label head, festival curator, promoter, film producer, touring performer, sound engineer and soon to be VR Game producer. Set for release this year, the game will be a fully interactive musical, mini-game exploration.
A proud activist in the LGBTQ+ community Sky has launched her own club-night Letz Be On as well as curating a festival titled Reclaim The Beats. Sky’s previous releases on her own Reveller Records, have seen her gain strong support across the dance music scene from the likes of Gorgon City, Mat.Joe, Riva Starr, Golf Clap and La Fraicheur. Known for creating connection, freedom of self and joyful passion on the dance floor through her performances, Sky was invited by Peaches last year to join her on tour as core-multi-instrumentalist and Midi Director. Continuing to push boundaries, Sky Deep is an artist to aspire to; always finding new ways to explore her creativity.
