Monoko returns with his new EP ‚Nightshift‘ on August 28th, a five-track release blending sun-drenched dance floor grooves with tender emotional introspection.

With ‚Nightshift‘Monoko steps into a new era: more alternative, more dance-driven, unapologetically pop, yet still deeply rooted in his signature sound world. Think Four Tet, Jamie xx, Caribou, Ross From Friends, Tourist, artists who know how to make music that’s half dance floor, half emotion: tracks that move your body just as much as they can move you to tears, meditate, or simply feel something. This is Monoko widening his palette, chasing sun-soaked hypnotic grooves as much as tender, ambient introspection. The EP opens with ‚Dominoes‘, the standout single and clearest statement of this new direction. A slow-burning, Caribou-esque intro builds into a hypnotic, sun-drenched groove, teased by a whispered female vocal sample („ready“) that racks up tension until the track detonates into the EP’s biggest drop, pure release, pure feel-good.From there, ‚What I Know‘ and ‚Thinkin‘ Bout You (Always)‘ carry the momentum, both already championed by Tipik, Bruzz, and Jam RTBF. ‚When I Needed‘ turns the energy toward the club, propulsive and direct, anchored by the aching vocal hook „where were you when I needed you.“ The EP closes on the title track ‚Nightshift‘, a total tonal shift: calm, ambient, and tender, closing with the vocal refrain „all you have to do is jump“ / „it’s alright,“ revealing the softer edge of Monoko’s world.Five tracks, one clear arc: a producer stepping fully into his own light, more experimental, more danceable, more pop, and more human, all at once.
