Laryssa Kim blurs pop and acousmatic experimentation on „Earth to Uranus“—a haunting exploration of cosmic alienation and the longing for home. „Earth to Uranus“ is a song that does not follow a conventional form. Born from hybridity, it moves between pop and experimentation, with an attention to sonic matter and space that comes from my studies in acousmatic composition.
The track emerges from an Aquarian perspective, symbolically connected to Uranus: that state in which feeling alien and feeling alienated almost become the same thing. The world seems governed by codes in which we can never fully recognize ourselves, and a longing begins to grow for another place, light-years away.
Perhaps it is only an imagined home. Or perhaps it is the trace of something we once knew elsewhere—who knows, in another life. Earth to Uranus speaks of the desire to return to a place whose existence we cannot be sure of, yet somehow still miss.
