Can you tell us about how the label started?
The idea was born in late 2021, toward the end of the COVID era. Alongside Bauen, we decided to throw our first party at Fitz Roy. The name Anxiety Therapy came naturally—it represents the one thing that grounds me and helps me escape daily life. Since then, our parties have grown into the Berlin scene with showcases at Renate, Paloma, Golden Gate, Æden, and more. In 2023, we expanded into a label, working with incredible artists like Scruscru, Ale Castro, Nico Cortazzo, Flor Coto, DJ Merci, and others.
How would you describe it?
I like to consider Anxiety Therapy more than just a label—it’s a club culture promoter and guest mix series with a mission to spotlight great music, support artists, and create a space for people to let go of life’s challenges. In an era focused on content over music, we stand firmly against phones on the dance floor. It’s something we actively try to teach our community (and to other promoters and clubs as well).
We focus on house music (NY Garage, Deep, Soulful), but our parties also explore techno and Italo sounds to reflect different energies—mirroring how anxiety can feel at times. It’s all about creating a journey that ebbs and flows.
Who are your biggest influences, and how have they shaped your sound and approach?
As an artist, growing up immersed in Berlin’s sound shaped my tastes, but artists like Ale Castro, a fantastic performer, dj and producer, had a big influence on me as I first arrived in Berlin, in 2018. The sounds of Phil Weeks, Cinthie, and Ian Pooley heavily inform the label’s direction. As a label and party promoter, I’ve also learned a lot from collectives like Small Great Thing, Section 8, Berlin House Music, and Aterral.
What has been the highlight of the label so far?
Our Diskotherapy party last summer at Æden, in collaboration with Diskolusion. Bringing Angelo Ferreri, a legend in house and disco, alongside friends and contributors from the scene, was truly special. It was a perfect blend of music, energy, and community.
What challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?
Berlin’s competitive scene, with countless parties and promoters, makes it challenging to consistently fill venues and meet expectations. It’s also difficult to find a balance between artist fees, ticket prices, and club budgets—especially in a climate where clubs are losing the battle and facing funding cuts. It’s important to recognize that this isn’t the fault of the clubs but a reflection of decreasing cultural support from the government, which has become even more apparent over the past year. The key is understanding that not every event will be a success. Stay focused on creating a space that provides something meaningful to the community. Prioritize the music and the experience, and you’ll find your way forward.
Can you share upcoming projects or collaborations?
Starting in December, we’ll launch a new event series, Therapy Sessions, at Marmor Bar (Ex Chalet) every other Thursday. It’s all about going back to basics—highlighting fresh talent and bringing in established names to build a real sense of community. mOn the label side, we’re excited to welcome new artists like Corazon de Melon and The Pintauro Brothers (US), Justnique/Flying Moth (Italy), Habibi Grooves, and Luca Olivotto, while continuing collaborations with artists like Bauen, Shabi, Franco Strato, and The Checkup.
What do you think is the most important music equipment invention of all time—and why?
Vinyl. Even if you don’t play it, learn from it. Vinyl embodies the roots of DJing and makes DJs true curators of sound.
What advice would you give to someone trying to launch a new label or collective?
Always start by asking yourself why you’re doing it. Respect club culture and venue rules. Avoid chasing trends or comparing yourself to others. Focus on curating great artists and lineups rather than relying on flashy promotional content. Work with people you genuinely want to collaborate with, attend other parties, and learn from those around you. Never forget to support other collectives—you were once there too. Their journey can always be a source of inspiration.
