Across twelve meticulously crafted tracks, Lag pushes the boundaries of Gqom with the precision of a producer in full command of his craft. Gqom
Gqom ist ein elektronisches Tanzmusik-Genre, das Anfang der 2010er-Jahre in Durban, Südafrika, entstand. Das Wort stammt aus dem Zulu und bedeutet „Hit“ oder „Drum“. Der Stil ist für einen minimalistischen, harten Beat und eine dunkle, basslastige Produktion bekannt; oft kommen repetitive, rohe Rhythmen und wenige Melodien zum Einsatz. Die Musik entstand in Townships und wurde durch Produzenten wie DJ Lag, Babes Wodumo und Distruction Boyz bekannt. Gqom ist ein Ausdruck der urbanen Jugendkultur und hat internationale Aufmerksamkeit erlangt.
Afro Tech
Afro Tech ist ein Musikgenre, das traditionelle afrikanische Rhythmen mit modernen Technoklängen verbindet. Es zeichnet sich durch tiefe Basslinien, hypnotische Grooves und eine eher minimalistische, atmosphärische Stimmung aus.
Im Gegensatz zum energiegeladenen Afro House legt Afro Tech den Fokus mehr auf Rhythmus und Groove als auf Melodie. Das Genre schafft eine Verbindung zwischen afrikanischem Erbe und elektronischer Innovation und ist bekannt für seinen dunkleren, zurückhaltenden Sound, der dennoch tanzbar bleibt
3 Step
3 Step ist ein Musikgenre aus Südafrika, das eine Mischung aus Amapiano, Afrohouse und Broken Beat darstellt. Es zeichnet sich durch einen charakteristischen Rhythmus mit drei Kicks pro Takt aus, der sich von dem typischen gleichmäßigen Vier-Viertel-Takt des Afrohouse unterscheidet. Die Musik hat groovige, leicht synkopierte Rhythmen und verbindet tiefe Basslinien von Amapiano mit den eleganten Percussions des Afrohouse. 3 Step ist sowohl tanzbar als auch rhythmisch vielseitig und hat sich schnell in Südafrika und international als neues Trendgenre etabliert.
