MOUSE ON MARS (Monkeytown)

MASCHINE Special feat:

Florian Grote (Product Designer / Native Instruments)
Steinunn Arnardottir (DSP Developer / Native Instruments)

22:30h OPEN CDR with EVA BE + CDR DJs

…………….

MOUSE ON MARS is one of the few electronic bands to stand the test of time. Constantly reinventing themselves, they have taken electronica to new heights with a unique blend of sound annihilation, fragmented melodies and an impassioned hatred of conformity. For nearly two deacades, Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner have sweated over burning consoles to create a new musical language, only to twist it again into thousands of myriad distortions.

For this session we are very happy to welcome two product designers and musicians on stage which are significantly leading the design of MASCHINE, Native Instruments integrated music production instrument. Florian Grote will talk about the challenge of designing new instruments and production workflows that meet today’s music producers needs. Steinunn Arnardottir on the other hand will give an insight on the design of Maschine’s renowned effects, in particular her „Vintage Emulation“ modes in Maschine – plug-ins that are modelling the legendary sound character of the EMU SP1200 and Akai MPC 60. This is a unique chance to get some insight into modern instrument design and catch some behind the scenes information on Maschine.

EVA BE embodies the sound of the capital unlike any other artist. She has carved a niche for herself on the electronic club music scene as both a producer and a DJ with her distinctive and elegant flair. Expect no less than the best when Berlin’s “First Lady of Dub, House & Techno” takes to the turntables. She will play a mix of your and her tunes so bring em on to hear them on the fine Funktion One soundsystem.

CDR Berlin:
Every music producer knows the score: one can tinker away on a track for all eternity but it lacks something vital, and one still doesn’t quite know what. Is the sound right? Does the arrangement work? How will the tune work on the dance floor? What will my buddies think of it? When is the track really complete? These are the questions to be answered at CDR.
The aim of the event is not simply to give a straight lecture but to swap experiences, workshop style, in open discussion with all participants. A subsequent clubnight with previously submitted tracks will continue after the workshops. Upload your own tracks to our Soundcloud dropbox and you’ll get to hear them later over the Prince Charles sound system when CDR residents DJs Dirk Rumpff, John B. Savary and Tony Nwachukwu pull them together in a plausible DJ set. The respective artists‘ names will be displayed, if so wished, so as to facilitate immediate feedback.
