The warmest of season’s greetings to all rave princesses, angelic soy boys, and sesh gremlins alike. For the Christmas edition of Culture Club at your favourite Kreuzberg micro club, Bulbul, we see the joyful and triumphant return of a recently minted ex-Berliner in the form the Westcoast Goddess. Having turned heads in the game at the highest level since the late 90s, the now matured Goddess has an unmistakable emotion-tinged signature house sound which has proven irresistible to a wide variety record labels, with the likes of Worldship, Aterral, Slam City Jams, Let’s Play House, Heart Heart Records, Mango, YUNG DUMB Records, Infinite Pleasure, and Omena all queuing up to amplify the latest WCG cuts. No stranger to pseudonyms and aliases, the Goddess, under the Videopath guise, has also released music for Shanti Celeste’s influential Peach Discs with the A Cure for Melancholy 12-inch back in 2019. A true original, uncompromising observer, gifted producer and a damn fine deejay to boot, the Westcoast Goddess is now back operating out of his rain-soaked Heimat, where new hardware, space, time, and a renewed passion for production are already starting to deliver the goods, some of which you may be treated at Culture Club if you should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky. So come all ye faithful and bear witness to the heavenly return of the Goddess‘ for one Berlin night only.
On support we have a rising star of the Berlin scene in Vio PRG, who through a blistering amount of top quality performances along with her Flight Mode radio show on Refuge Worldwide, has left folks no choice but to sit up and take notice of her dazzling sets. Always on the lookout for weird and wonderful balearic, disco and afrobeat, Vio is a 90s kid and brings that nostalgia into her sets, playing old school house and techno paired with fresh releases from leftfield labels and classics alike. Also on the bill for tonight is the Culture Club return of Kujiradio, the least best kept secret from Keith.fm’s stable of fantastic DYI radio shows. Playing an eclectic mix of all the music your momma was afraid you’d get into, we hear delicious rumours that the Kuji Express will be riding a Soul Train right into the heart of Bulbul, and sure Weinachten says you their epic last visit is still being spoken about in the pool halls and parklands of Berlin. As usual Culture Club resident house pet, Le Fox, will be on hand to round things off with what some people have described as a degenerative illness which prevents him from playing anything other than stone cold bangers laced with acid, which should see you trip the light fantastic all the way into the new year. Jurassic Park!
