Enough. Done. Basta.
Enough. Sufficient. Ample.
Enough is the description of a condition as much as it is a quantifier. For something present or to come. Maybe the term’s siblings would be challenge and chance. In the first WTFH event 2022 we want to take this status as a starting point to look at past, current and (potential) future dynamics of a broader Berlin club and creative scene.
Line-ups and structures in big venues are still predominantly shaped by white and/or male representatives. Nonetheless FLINTA* consume club culture just the same. There is an asymmetry: FLINTA* are fewer represented in programming and earn considerably less. What prevents FLINTA* from taking the lead in shaping this large Berlin income field? What are the barriers? Where is this already happening? What jobs do FLINTA* do in the (club) culture sector? How are they paid? How can a more equitable distribution of wealth and low-threshold access to resources be enabled (and by whom)? How can survival & support be transformed to flourishing & glow up?
Reflecting this shift to a new future, the artists at our subsequent Club night stand for a genre-bending take on sonic euphoria, breaking with Berlin’s patriarchal four-to-the-floor obsession in celebration of transcendence through diversity.
ENOUGH is the first of two events in 2022, each consisting of keynotes and a panel discussion followed by a club night. TRUST will take place in autumn this year. Both events want to give insight into the working worlds, individual & collective strategies as well as the experiences and work of and by FLINTA* creatives.
