The latest release on Boyanza comes as an EP courtesy of up-and-coming producer Nando, which powerfully echoes the ethereal heartbeat and pulsating energies of the dancefloor via scintillating progressions and euphoria-driven atmospheres….
Present-day electronica is filled to the brim with producers that harmonise a plethora of genre stylings and motifs within their sound, and Nando is no exception. His flourishing career thus far has demonstrated a knack for crafting compelling dance trax that feel both fresh and familiar, dynamic yet precise, and always all-encompassing. Drifting proactively within the realms of House, Techno, Disco, and the in-between spaces, Nando perfectly captures that Rave-like spirit within his productions, where limitless positive energy abounds and minds and feet remain in a near-constant flux of joy. Perhaps above all else, it is whilst his music has a considered approach to it, there is a deep undercurrent of delight and fun that spreads throughout a Nando EP, further drawing dancers into his auditory universe.
‘Hit It’ is a testament to his craft and vision, and begins immediately on its journey to drive forward the dance into new spheres of being. The title track has a deep punch to its rhythm section, which provides the basis for the bass wobs and energetic vocal samples to take hold. The synth sweeps that align in the backdrop complete the picture, creating a feverish kinetic energy that is a real marvel. ‘Pow’ starts with a dense polyrhythmic percussive outlay, with the bass not far behind, with the scene set perfectly for the cavernous synths to take hold. Leaning heavily into techno soundscapes, the additional rhythmic features add an enormity to the progression, with joyous surprises found around every corner. ‘Dale Duro!’ lands next, which features another deep set of drums to get things going. This one is pure, peak time killer energy, with the swinging bass and drumming pattern striking right through the dance, with infectious euphoric vocal samples and tactful melodic lines doing the business – you just can’t help moving, no matter where you are.
We sat down for a talk with the up and coming producer to find out a bit more about him…
Hey Nando, great to meet you! How are you today?
I’m really, really excited about seeing my music spreading all over the world!
You’ve just released Hit It! Can you talk us through the release… yeah sure!
How did the collaboration with the label come about?
I met Rafatel in November 2023 and already admired what he was doing with his label, Boyanza. Releasing music there was always a goal for me. In May 2024, I sent him a track—it didn’t go anywhere since I was just starting out—but I didn’t give up. By November, I had made ‘Hit It’ and sent it to him again. He liked it, and soon after I also shared Pow and Dale Duro, which I already had ready
Where and when was the EP made?
The EP was made in my home studio on the first days of October. It took me about 24 days to finish it properly!
Can you share some insight into your creative process? Any rituals or methods that keep you inspired?
My creative process—or ritual—really depends a lot on my mood. If I’m working on something for the dancefloor, I try to visualize a packed dancefloor, and depending on the tones or vibes that come out, that’s where I direct the energy. For Hit It, I imagined a festival: warm yellow colors, smoke in the air, and people going wild, dancing and jumping.
I also always try not to bring my phone into the studio, because it drains my focus and creative energy.
What’s your go to piece of studio gear or plug in?
I don’t really have any analog gear — just a Casio electric piano I got as a gift when I was 10, and some plugins. Honestly, I think imagination plays a big part in it.
Where did you grow up and how did your environment shape your relationship with music?
I grew up in Torreón, Coahuila, in northern Mexico. As a kid, I used to play the flute, and my mom always made sure we were involved in musical environments. But it wasn’t until about five years ago that I really got into electronic music — it just clicked the moment I heard my first kick drum. At school, music classes were mandatory, so I’ve always been surrounded by music in some way. I didn’t go to my first rave until I was 18, and it was right here in my hometown — that experience really opened my eyes to the scene and made me feel even more connected to the music.
As someone deeply involved in the house music scene, how do you see it right now?
To be honest, the scene can feel overwhelming sometimes. There’s so much talent out there, and I think that nowadays, being a good musician isn’t enough — you also need to be a solid producer, a great performer, and even a good person. When your relationship with your fans, promoters, and the community is genuine, I believe it’s a lot easier to build real connections with your audience. There’s also a lot of competition, which is fine, but I truly believe that the ones who have real ambition and discipline are the ones who will truly stand out in the long run. The scene is tough, and the party can easily consume you if you’re not careful.
What’s one thing you’ve learned about the music industry that surprised you?
Honestly, I got into this without knowing anything. But what I’ve learned is that building genuine relationships — not just business connections, but real friendships — makes a huge difference. Of course, some relationships will be strictly professional, and that’s totally fine. Just try to create things people can connect with. At the end of the day, it only takes one song to change your life.
Finally, what does the rest of 2025 hold for you?
From my side, 2025 is looking exciting with several upcoming music releases. Colossio is working on a remix of my track for Blue Venado, a label and party collective based in San Luis Potosí. There’s also a release on Tom Peters’ label, Dessert Berlin, and a single dropping on Olde Tapes, the independent label run by Jaaw. I actually just finished an EP today that’s set to come out in 2026. I’m also about to sign another single with a label run by an artist I truly admire — I’m really excited about that one. And if everything goes well, my very first vinyl EP will be released too. You’ll be able to catch all the updates on my Instagram, so make sure to follow me: @nando__mx
