Tree Threes has quickly become a go-to music maker for when high-octane, varied, and musically diverse dance music comes to mind. With a sound curated from his time with Point Blank Music and Secretesundaze school, his music joyously combines effortless rhythm sections along with broad-reaching, soulful melodic touches that convey a spectrum of mood and feel. He captures the energies that exist between deep and disco, jazz-oriented house, which creates music that is highly danceable yet profoundly graceful and thoughtful. Whether it’s high in euphoric clouds or deep within a cavernous sound, Tree Threes surfs the waves with ease, merging a plethora of soundscapes that entice and enrich with each listen, with recent releases on labels such as House Salad, Nervous, and Special Grooves remaining a testament to his craft.
‘Love You Forever’ keeps the fire burning strong, and as the title track emerges, the stage is set for another Tree Threes masterclass. An ensemble of sounds begins proceedings, with a polyrhythmic undercurrent keeping time, and before long, the chords ride into view. A late-night, slow edge burner, this track keeps on strong with inspired vocal samples and horns, all of which contribute to an everlasting feeling of belonging through sound. ‘Right Way’ begins in much more stripped-back surroundings, but via the crux of keys and drums, the track intuitively unravels. Vocals simmer up top, with the release of new elements allowing the pulse to ride high whilst effectively allowing the emotive undercurrent to be propelled forward – this one gets the pulses flowing.
‘Can You Say’ shifts the perspective even further into emotional machine music territories. The track is anchored in shifting rhythmic tonalities, with fluctuating densities moving from the depths through to higher-end frequencies. Melodic elements become more prominent as time passes, their presence echoing out up top, breezing across the dashboard into the night sky. The EP wraps up with ‘Under Water’, which dips into the pool for one final outing. A heavy set beat provides time and space for the bubbling undercurrent to rise, with a euphoric piano line then leading through alongside starry-eyed key crescendos, along with emotive vocal samples that lead the way into the heavens.
