Producer, artist, and multi-instrumentalist Jitwam releases the second instalment of his EP trilogy, seamlessly moving between club pressure and carefree funk across the four-track record. Having spent the last decade moving between America, England, Australia and India, it comes as no surprise that Jitwam’s music resists genre-defined borders, tracing emotional clarity and groove through the producer’s ever-fluid lens.

Opening with Hard N Soft, a collaboration with Fiorious, together our heroes craft a sound that’s both propulsive and emotional, balancing tension and release. Built around a deep, classic groove with lyrics that evoke a sense of freedom and empowerment on the dancefloor.

Mag Sway, a collaboration with fellow Indian producer OX7GEN, drifts deeper into the night with a techno-driven backing track and vocals from Jitwam seemingly admiring a fellow reveller from across the floor. With the Instrumental track Something Always, we see Jitwam bring together an offbeat rhythm and subtle unpredictability; its ambivalent groove is filled with micro-surprises that reveal Jitwam’s instinct for experimentation.

Closing the EP, Hard N Soft (Baltra Remix) reframes the original with a distinctly garage sound, layering tight production, a glorious piano line and late-night swing. All of this seems to elevate the track’s soulful vocal into a hands-in-the-air refrain.

The Indian-born creative has long been known for nomadically fusing psychedelic soul, jazz, and house into spiritually charged records. Since his debut “TJD001” in 2013, Jitwam quickly gained respect from tastemakers like Gilles Peterson and Moodymann, who included the EP’s  “Keepyourbusinesstoyourself” in the now iconic DJ-Kicks compilation; a move that sparked international attention and set Jitwam on a global trajectory.

With a creative process that is both intentional and intuitive, he released his self-titled debut album, ज़ितम सिहँ, in 2017. This was followed by several EPs on his own imprint, The Jazz Diaries, and full-length albums Honeycomb (2019) and Third (2022). With over 100 million streams to date.

Jitwam’s genre-resistant approach to music, new and old, remains at the forefront of his releases; merging classic soul, Detroit house, and jazz-informed improvisation into a sound that feels globally lived-in yet sharply of the moment.
