Shaping the Sound of Modern Disco Described by Mixmag Asia as “one of India’s most prolific disco purveyors”, Dynamite Disco Club stands at the forefront of India’s vibrant Disco and House scene.

Founded in 2017 by Stalvart John, Dynamite Disco Club began as a radio show and quickly evolved into a cornerstone of South Asian electronic music culture. Rooted in disco, house, afro, and soul, DDC has blossomed into a multifaceted platform – embracing a record label, touring brand, mentorship initiative, and a thriving global community.

Over the years, DDC has orchestrated more than 110 events across South Asia, curating and taking over major festivals such as Magnetic Fields, Echoes of Earth, NH7 Weekender, and VH1

Supersonic. The collective also celebrated its milestone 100th event at Dots Bay House in Hiriketiya, Sri Lanka, in January 2025.

The record label, launched in 2021, has consistently appeared in Traxsource’s Top 100, showcasing a diverse roster of both rising and established talents. Releases include works by Farhan Rehman, Hamza Rahimtula, Unnayanaa, ISHXN, Stalvart John himself, as well as international artists like C. Da Afro (Greece), Daisuke Miyamoto (Japan), raga (USA), and Cantos (USA). The label’s music bridges dancefloor energy with deep, emotive grooves – tracks as thoughtful as they are infectious.

A pillar of DDC’s mission is nurturing new talent. Its mentorship program, now in its sixth year, has supported over 20 emerging artists. Many mentees have gone on to release music with DDC or secure bookings at clubs and festivals across India.

At its core, Dynamite Disco Club is about building community, honouring musical roots, and curating experiences that feel genuine. Whether you find yourself at a club night in Bangalore or discover a DDC track in your morning playlist, the spirit remains the same: celebrate great music, uplift fresh talent, and create spaces where house and disco are not just genres – but living, breathing cultures

Hi Dynamite Disco Club, Good to meet you! Who is behind the label?

Hello guys, great to meet you. My name is Stalvart John, and I’m the founder of Dynamite Disco Club. My colleague Farhan Rehman, who serves as our A&R and Label Manager. We also have Four32 handling our events and management division for DDC. That’s my small team.

When was the first idea to create the label?

I began working with Wind Horse Records in 2016, and it was during my time as a label manager that I truly understood the vital role a record label plays in the music ecosystem. So, when I founded Dynamite Disco Club in 2017. Having a label was already part of the long-term vision, but I wanted to build it gradually and with intention. The original plan was to launch the label in 2023, taking the time to grow the community, familiarizing the sound, and set a strong foundation. But then the pandemic hit. While the world slowed down, we started making a lot more music, and it became clear that the time to launch the label was now.

So, I picked up the phone and called Farhan. I asked him, ‚Do you want to build this label with me?‘ And just like that, within 6 to 8 months, Dynamite Disco Club Records was launched.

What is the inspiration behind the label?

Understanding the role a record label plays in the music ecosystem truly inspired me. During the pandemic, I was attending a lot of seminars and workshops, and one message kept coming up, The importance of a well-run label. That really stuck with me. I began researching successful labels. I started following in their footsteps, learning from their strategies and applying those insights to shape my own vision.

Do you have any statistics since the label was created—how many releases, how many vinyl, and how many units have been sold?

This marks our 50th release as a label, a major milestone for us. We’re proud that every release of has charted on Traxsource. So far, we’ve operated as a digital-only label, but looking ahead, we’re exploring the possibility of venturing into physical releases as well.

Can you describe what a typical office life means for you?

We don’t have a physical office yet. Our entire team works remotely from different cities. I’m based in Bangalore, Farhan Rehman operates out of Mumbai, and the Four32 team manages things from Pune. Despite the distance we’ve built a collaborative workflow that keeps everything running smoothly.

Do you produce yourself or are you a DJ?

I’m a music producer that’s been releasing music for last 10 years and I’ve been DJing for more than 15 years. Music has been at the core of my journey throughout.

Which distribution channels do you use?

We use Proton for our distribution, and they have been incredibly helpful in supporting us.

Where do you find hungry and ambitious artists?

We receive most of the demos from artists who’ve discovered the label. At the same time, we actively seek out and connect with artists whose music aligns with our vision. Farhan Rehman, our A&R, plays a key role in this process. He works closely with artists to help refine their ideas and shape them into fully realized tracks, staying true to their creative vision.

What impact does Spotify streaming have on the economic location of an indie label?

Spotify is a massive corporate platform, and naturally, their focus is often on bigger, more mainstream artists. As a result our releases can sometimes get lost in the noise. That’s why, as a label, we choose not to prioritize streaming platforms. Instead, we focus on channels that truly cater to our community like Traxsource, Beatport, Bandcamp, and other platforms where underground and independent music is better supported and appreciated.

If you’re looking for new music, what are the key elements and factors you’re looking for, apart from the fact that it’s obviously a great track?

At Dynamite Disco Club, we have a distinct sound and vision that we’re committed to pushing through the label. That’s our starting point when considering new music. But beyond the sound, we also look at who the artist is: Are they someone we can trust to represent the brand? How do they carry themselves professionally? For us, music is just the beginning and we work with people who we can build a deeper, long-term relationship with.

How would you describe the label’s style and vision?

We’re a disco and house music label, and over time, our sound has evolved. We’re now focused on releasing more straightforward, cutting-edge tracks that reflect where the scene is headed keeping disco and house music as our foundation . Our broader vision is to establish ourselves as a strong, forward-thinking label from Asia, one that not only gives a global platform to Asian artists but also creates meaningful connections between the Asian and international music communities.
