Sensus, Better Things and ALOADED laden herzlich ein zur Showcasenacht „Die Neuen Schweden“ am Montag, den 14. September im Badehaus.
Eine Jury, bestehend aus Größen der Berliner MusikSzene – unter anderem Daniel Meinel von Flux FM oder Rike van Kleef von Faemm – hat aus vielen Bewerbung drei schwedische Nachwuchsbands ausgesucht – eine wunderbar leidenschaftliche Debatte war das dieses Jahr und als Gewinner gekürt wurden VERO, MEN IN LOVE und MARY ANNE’S POLAR RIG.
Zum achten Mal in Folge arbeiten Better Things mit der schwedischen Musikfördereinrichtng SENSUS zusammen und coachen die Gewinnerbands mit Workshops, Industriebesuchen bei Labels, Tonstudios, Agenturen, Radios – und als Höhepukt erwartet alle Beteiligten ein fulminates Showcase im Badehaus, bei dem die Bands sich dem Berliner Publikum präsentieren.
Als Special Guest haben wir dieses Jahr eine Künstlerin vom schwedischen Vertrieb Aloaded mit an Bord: Klara Keller eröffnet den Abend mit einer faszinierenden Performance am Mellotron. Danach folgt Mary Ann’s Polar Rig mit Garagen-Idierock, lupenreiner Pop von Men In Love und Indierock von VERO. All drei Bands haben die Jury über alle Maßen überzeugt – nun können wir kaum warten, diese tollen Acts mit dem Berliner Publikum zu teilen.

MARY ANNE’S POLAR RIG
Mary Anne’s Polar Rig is a guitar/producer duo coming straight from the underground rock scene of Malmö, Sweden. With a sound heavily influenced by the 90’s scene as well as the new wave of female fronted rock, they play a sort of “fuzzed out” pop where the dynamic vocals together with the noisy jangly guitars are in focus. They have a double LP set to be released by Rama Lama Records in early 2023 and with a brand new 5 piece live band, Mary Anne’s Polar Rig are out playing the album compressed into a loud and energetic 30 min set.
MEN IN LOVE
Men In Love is a psychedelic pop duo from Gothenburg who released their self titled debut album this year February 14th (ding ding!). Exploring a deeply personal brew of styles and sounds, the album moves seamlessly from 50’s Doo-Wop to 80’s synth Mania via a 60’s Kaleidoscopic dream. It’s about reaching adulthood only to realize that nobody knows exactly what is going on. With emphasis on melody, harmony and structures, the band has combined classic songwriting with elements of modern production to create tantalizing and catchy music.
Men In Love describe themselves as sweet and intelligent, yet discreetly mischievous and surprisingly sexy – a savoury blend of past and present, body and mind, dream and reality, adult and child. Enjoy the expedition!
VERO
On their bold and brilliant debut album „Unsoothing Interior“, Stockholm’s Vero reflect the nature of life itself. Their songs prioritise feeling over perfectionism what feels or sounds, best creating a record that tumbles through its contents with tense of unpredictability, excitement and curiosity. It’s an album full of raw guitar riffs that spin and swirl and fizz, and evoke the spirit of artists like Sonic Youth, Garbage and Pixies.
KLARA KELLER
Klara Keller is a Swedish electro and bedroom pop artist her sad girl summer single it called „Sad Thinking About You“
Keller music is not typical pop. It combines layers of electronic instrumentals that are somehow simultaneously retro and modern. Klara’s vocals have a unique quality to them, half-sung, half-spoken, delivering wonderfully strong emotion. Klara worked with professionals that have mixed the likes of Phoenix, Air and Daft Punk. Klara currently lives in Paris, having decided to branch out from her native Sweden.
