The new release on Freerotation Records is a mixed artist EP with music from Juju & Jordash, Shawn Rudiman and Cubic Space Collective.

Juju & Jordash open the EP with two tracks which have been cut from the live and improvised set performed at Freerotation’s event in 2017, and one the flip side are solo cuts from the other two artists.

Live act and DJ duo Juju & Jordash have previously featured music on imprints including Rush Hour, Workshop and Dekmantel. Having travelled all over the globe headlining festivals and events, the guys have been residents at Freerotation since its early years

American artist Shawn Rudiman has released on many labels including Detroit Techno Militia, Pittsburgh Tracks, Cache Records and Technoir Audio. A veteran artist with a back catalogue spanning nearly two decades, he is a respected and longstanding member of the worlds techno scene.

Cubic Space Collective is a successful underground techno group from the ’90s consisting of solo artists Mark Hand, Neil Iceton and Jez Nicholl. The group had disbanded in the late 1990s until a couple of years ago when they were asked to perform a one off gig at Freerotation by organiser Steevio, who ran Roost Records in the mid 1990s, the label that the Cubics released on, and following the overwhelmingly positive crowd response the guys have rekindled the project.

Track one from Juju & Jordash titled “Live at Freerotation 2017 – Cut 1” is a jackin’ slice of raw analogue house. With hard hitting tom drums and phased claps layered under lush synths playing jazzy chords to form uplifting textures.

Second is Juju & Jordash’s “Live at Freerotation 2017 – Cut 2” which is deep with a spacious sound full of dreamy melody that contrasts with the ominous bass stabs. Delicate but menacing the blend of juxtaposed moods give the track a captivating atmosphere.

Track three is Shawn Rudiman’s „Always and Forever“ which is an eloquent blend of clattering percussion and intricate melody. Rich in analogue warmth the machine funk of the tracks cosmic design is deep techno at its best.

Finishing the EP is Cubic Space Collective’s “Sea of Tranquility” which is a refined and shimmering cut of Detroit influenced techno. With gliding textures and deep emotion, the laid back vibe of the synths are complimented by the up-tempo percussion rhythms.
